Our Story
Housmans was born from family, community, and a love of simple, delicious food. Rita’s Portuguese heritage inspires our menu, blending homely cooking with Mediterranean flavours. Her passion for food and genuine hospitality has created a place that feels comforting, welcoming, and familiar—just like home.
Our Philosophy
We believe that dining should be a pleasure, not a rush. At Housmans, every meal is prepared with care, and every guest is welcomed like part of the family. From sharing tapas with friends to savouring a relaxed lunch or enjoying a Sunday roast, we aim to make every visit memorable.
We are committed to:
Fresh, honest, and flavourful cooking
A friendly, unhurried atmosphere
Treating our guests like family
Supporting our local Shropshire Hills community
Our Name
Housmans is named after the celebrated poet A.E. Housman, whose 'A Shropshire Lad' beautifully captures the charm of the Shropshire hills we’re lucky to call home. Just like his poetry, our restaurant is about taking time to enjoy the simple, meaningful things—good food, good company, and a welcoming atmosphere. As a family-run business, we pour the same care and love into every meal, making sure every guest feels right at home.
